It's Wednesday, so time to link up with Deb Silhan's/Focused on the Magic's Wordful or Wordless Wednesday. This week the topic is ... Cast Member Appreciation.
There are two - one current and one former - that I am going to highlight here.
The first worked in the Haunted Mansion in 1999/2000. At the stroke of midnight, while guests and other cast members were outside watching the fireworks to welcome in a new millennium, he remained behind so the attraction did not have to completely shut down, allowing guests to return once the celebration was over.
I am talking, of course, about my son, Bobby who was a College Program cast member at the time.
Today he is a high school science teacher and a principal. He still frequently visits Walt Disney World with his wife and sons - not in a small part to visit the next Cast Member I will be speaking about.
She started her Disney career on the College Program as well and first could be found in Conservation Station at (not yet renamed) Rafiki's Planet Watch. The year was 2000. My daughter, Iris had already graduated college and was planning on staying. Her journey took her next to the front desk at Caribbean Beach Resort which opened the door for her future with Disney. One of my favorite stories of how she made magic for a guest involved a dad who was going to sleep on the floor as his teen aged son refused to share a bed with his dad - as his mom and sister were doing. He returned to his room to find a fold-away with a note saying it was complements of the resort.
When Disney started a project to write a new front desk software package, she was chosen to be an end user on that team. That was her introduction to Disney IT where she still works to this day.
