Day 11 - January 27
This morning, as with most mornings this week, we meet Iris and drive to a park. Today it will be Disney's Animal Kingdom. It's Sunday and we are counting on the crowds being at either the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. Today is the coolest day of the rest of our stay and Animal Kingdom always feels like the hottest of the 4 theme parks.Luck is not with us this morning as we enter the parking lot. The car in front of us gets the final spot in the row, so we are "banished" to the furthest spot in the next row - the one nearest the tram pick-up. Doesn't it seem like that always happens? After a walk and a tram ride we enter the park.
The Tree of Life |
As is our usual routine we head back into Harambe Village to get our fastpasses for the safari. Our return window is about a half hour from when we pull them, so we decide to stay around Harambe and wait to return. While we wait we watch some entertainment.
Before we know it our fastpasses become valid and we head into the queue and board our safari truck for our trip. It's a good day and there are quite a few animals to be seen - many which are often hiding when we drive through.
Our next stop is Finding Nemo: The Musical. This is one of our favorites and we always make sure to catch a show when we are here.
And what would a trip to Animal Kingdom be without a trip through Chester & Hester's DinoRama so my wife could "roll some balls" at one of the carnival games. Yes, yet another stuffed bat has joined the collection. After a "spin" on Primeval Whirl, we decide to have some lunch and head over to the counter service restaurant at Yak and Yeti. It's been a beautiful day and we enjoy sitting outside and having our lunch here among the wonderful theming and all the birds who have gathered.
Next on our agenda is to head to Camp Minnie Mickey for a performance of The Festival of the Lion King. Like the Nemo show, this is one that we always try to see while we are here.
Once over, it's time for us to head back to Pop Century, but as often happens, we get stopped in our tracks and have to wait for the Jammin' Jungle Parade. Oh well, there are worse things in life.
Iris drops us off back at the hotel. We will meet her again tomorrow morning and head off to the Magic Kingdom. We have a few goals to accomplish there tomorrow.
Note: Those of you who have been following my trip reports for years know that I usually publish links to more photos of each day. However, for this trip I have run into a technical issue and the provider whose services I use is working to correct it. As soon as they have fixed the issue I will indeed post links to pictures of each day. Keep watching for an announcement.
